Cecil Payne - Zodiac

I listened yesterday to Cecil Paynes Zodiac, a NY recording from 1968. It's Out Of Print on LP as well on CD. It's quite pity since the musicians are very fine as there's Kenny Dorham and Wynton kelly...

Lev. N Tolstoi

I just finished reading a book containing 6 stories by Lev. N Tolstoi which were fabulous. It was some time since i read a russian classic author but i enjoyed it very very much. Outstanding were 'Master and Servant', 'Sebastopol' and 'Polikoesjka'. 'The dead of Ivan Iljitsj' was very intruiging.

I bought this weekend Michael Lermontov - 'A Hero of our time'. Anyone read it already?

Art Pepper - Straight Life

All Things Considered, November 20, 2007 - Art Pepper was a self-taught jazz saxophonist who never practiced. But he earned acclaim as one of the greatest alto players to follow in the footsteps of Charlie Parker, and one of the foremost exponents of West Coast jazz. His career was interrupted by 10 years in prison on narcotics charges, and he died in 1982 at the age of 56. Now his widow, Laurie Pepper, is trying to tell his story on film, doing it one chapter at a time and posting it on YouTube.

You can listen at it here! Enjoy.
