Sunday Book Review

The New York Times Sunday Book Review features an obituary on Richard Kapuscinski, who passed away January 23. I never read any book but this article invites me at least to give some of his work a try.

The same edition also has an article on Hart Crane’s Complete Poems and Selected Letters.

Start your sunday morning in a reading way;-)

Louis Ferdinand Céline

Pierre Assouline who wrote recently about The Baroness has today posted about one of my all time favorite authors Louis Ferdinand Céline. I read all his works except for his political essays because they are out of print. Read more on this exceptionnal author here.

Wanna read something?

The NYT as ever of course has a bunch of interesting reviews in his book section : new bio's on or books by Allen Ginsberg, Charles Bukowski, Neal Cassidy and Tennessee Williams. Have fun and keep warm while reading here.

James Ellroy

While Mr. Ellroy gets a lot of attention in newspapers around the globe for istance in the NYT and in Le Figaro, tomorrow evening we have the opportunity to see and hear him in a documentary. Arte will broadcast a 2005 french documentary followed by the 1988 film 'Cop' based on the Lloyd Hopkins novels of the 80's.

I can't imagine a more nicer way to enter my weekend. Just hope to find a spare videocassette ;-)

Stephen Greenleaf

I just finished ‘Book case’ a Marsh Tanner PI  by Stephen Greenleaf. Not that much action but a deeply dark view on the life of PI Marsh Tanner. The plot concerns a friend of Tanner who owns a publishing company in San Francisco. He receives a non finished script which promises to be a best seller. Tanner is asked to the author since the script arrived anonymous … Previous novels i read were 'Grave Error' and 'Death Bed'.

If you want to read more on Mr. Greenleaf there’s an interview available here.
